Short Term Mission Teams

Orphanos Foundation facilitates short term missions to various locations around the world.  Small- to medium-sized teams go on-site to an orphanage, typically for about one week to serve a location through work on one or more planned projects.

Interaction with other team members, orphanage staff and the children gives unique opportunities to serve others in the context of their culture while learning more about what God is doing around the world.  Additionally, prayer, Bible study, cultural studies, and spontaneous discussions with other team members, give new insights into what God is doing at home, too!

Projects are planned based on the needs of a location.  Each project is team-oriented and leverages the combined gifts, talents and experience of everyone involved.  Past projects have included construction, sports camp, vacation Bible school and English camp.
Team members are neither expected nor required to have previous missions experience.
Prior to each trip, Orphanos Foundation staff leads each team through a series of classes, designed to help members get to know each other better and to introduce the project, destination and culture as well as to provide information about travel preparations.

All teams stay at the orphanages with the children.  This is a great opportunity to get a glimpse into their daily lives.  Since the project schedules are set up to maximize time with the children, being on-site facilitates getting to know those whose lives you're impacting.  The children love to interact.  Even if you don't speak the local language, language barriers can be overcome!  A warm smile, a gentle hug and a friendly song or game can speak volumes.

Pure water and edible food are provided.  At each location, clean water and appropriate meals are available.  Teams enjoy fellowship together over meals. Its our goal that each team member will return having had a significant positive impact at the location, as well as having been significantly impacted towards knowing God and being a part of His world-wide Kingdom.
