Kids Will Be Kids!
Rafaela – “Jesus falling out of our heart”
Rafaela, 05, had just arrived at Lar Batista and had already experienced so much in her life that most of us will never imagine. Some of the wonderful things her new life now is that she was being allowed to exchange pain for comfort, hunger for food, sorrow for pleasure, tears for smiles and on top of that she was getting new siblings and all the practical jokes that come with it. Rafaela learned to ride a bike, then in a matter of hours, she loved having all the campus to run freely! The day she received Jesus she started to change but until then, her favorite and most appropriate lines she learned in English were: “Be nice” and “I'm a rascal!” Boy was she right! One day she was running and suddenly she would stop and put her little hand over her heart. We watched her as it happened several times. When we approached her to see if she was feeling well she said: “I am ok, but I don't want Jesus to fall off my heart when I run and someone told me that would happen!”
Ingrid – “A new leg”
He actually answered that one! Another of Lars' anecdotes is Ingrid. She is always being so straight forward and sometimes we wonder if she thinks we are not very smart. We were all having a meeting with Pai about the surgery he was supposed to have, to save his leg this summer. We were all being polite and helping him see he really needed the surgery and how serious the situation was when Ingrid, until then sitting on his lap said: “Fine, if this leg hurts you so badly, we'll cut it off, put it in the trash and buy you a new one!” Little did she know she had just voiced our biggest concern!
Daniel – “Great, what do we do for a goalkeeper?”
Daniel is so excited about sports and his favorite thing is soccer. Since they heard of a possibility of a mission trip for them where they would play soccer and share their testimonies, Daniel has been even more involved with the team. They have all been having soccer practices everyday and they are all trying to get better in their positions.
Last week they were playing when Igor, 7, fell on his arm and cried a lot. Needless to say all the other boys their age were crying and worried about their brother. Igor was taken to the hospital and by the time he came back home he had a cast on his arm, the same arm he had broken 2 years ago! Everybody was so sad for him and concerned with his pain when Daniel saw him and asked: “So, you broke your arm huh? Great! So now what do we do for a goalie?”
As you can see, the Lord always puts a smile on our faces! We hope that in hearing from us, He would put a smile on your face as well! Love to you all!
