Field Missionaries

Unlike many “sending” missionary organizations, Orphanos does not take a percentage in overhead to pay for the collection of gifts, paperwork and other administrative requirements for supporting a missionary in the field.

We believe that this is fairly unusual among mission organizations.

Please consider supporting one of these direct care givers. Remember, 100% of your gift to the missionary goes to support the missionary and their work. If you want us to keep helping them, please consider a second gift to Orphanos to help Keep Our Lights On.

Home Office Missionaries

Most of our staff raise their own support – just like missionaries in the field. Unfortunately, their support is less than half what an average salaried person makes at an organization our size.

Regrettably, our benefit package is skimpy as well. The old joke about the retirement package being out of this world is still true.

Some might applaud our frugality, but we also want to be fair to our hard-working staff people. They should not have to go without the basics just so we can be frugal. If you want to support our current staff, please name them in the Details box on the Donate Now page.

You can also contribute toward the many additional hands we hope to add so we can expand our reach. There's plenty of work to go around! (And, as always, thank you!)

Why Do We Say a “Second Gift”?

If you intended to give 100% of $100/month to your missionary, that is great. (So did we.)

If you are surprised to learn that we take nothing from your gift for overhead and are moved to support Orphanos’ effort to Keep Our Lights On, we are appreciative.

We do not want you to split your current gift and reduce what you give to the missionaries by reallocating a percentage of the current amount toward our overhead.

If you’re a missionary and want to join our family, see our requirements and benefits.
