Vision for Samuel's Sanctuary
Located in the Maya Mountains along the scenic Hummingbird Highway of central Belize, Samuel’s Sanctuary is the first Children’s Home to partner with Orphanos from the ground up. Still in the beginning stages, Samuel’s Sanctuary will be a multi-functional facility dedicated to at-risk children and ministry training. It sits on 18.5 acres of fertile land, with a year-round river and 3 large concrete buildings.
On the grounds will be:
• Dormitories for orphaned, abandoned, and abused children
• Housing for young, single mothers and their children
• A hostel for short-term missions teams and interns
• A center for discipling the Belizean people and training missionaries
Our goal is to take advantage of the natural resources of Belize and become self-sustaining through:
• Rain water containment for water usage
• Hydro and solar power
• Building materials sourced from the land
• Growing organic produce
• Raising animals for eggs, milk, meat, etc.
• Tilapia farm and hydroponic vegetables
We desire to involve each of the children in the running of the farm to develop responsibility and skills they can use going forward. In the future we hope to have an open-air market and restaurant at the front of the property as a resource for financial support of those connected with Samuel’s Sanctuary.
